Making $150K a Month Still Doesn't Feel Safe

I just talked to a friend of mine who will make $150k this month. And as crazy as that is, he probably won't make less than that for the foreseeable future.

And yet... he still doesn't feel safe. Doesn't think he's "made it." Isn't convinced that it's sustainable.

Two Sides

On the one hand, he feels validated. He's shown everyone (and himself) that he wasn't crazy to think he could pull this off. His conviction was justified. It wasn't just an overinflated ego.

But on the other hand, he still feels so uncomfortable.

The Reality

Part of it is that he's had bad breaks. Part of it is that he's still early in this venture.

But more than anything, this is just how most entrepreneurs feel. A weird mix of self-confidence and insecurity. Conviction and imposter syndrome.

The Takeaway

That feeling never really goes away. You can hit numbers you never dreamed of and still wonder if it's all going to fall apart tomorrow.

It's not a flaw. It's the entrepreneur's operating system. The same drive that pushed you to take the leap keeps you from ever feeling completely comfortable.

If you're building something and feel this tension between confidence and doubt, know that you're not alone.
